Based on values of an egalitarian social order like justice, liberty, equality, fraternity, and secularism as envisaged in the Constitution of India and guided by the views, ideals, thoughts and philosophy of Dr. B R. Ambedkar , the mandate of the Institute is to work for the development of the society in general and that of weaker sections in particulars.

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar National Institute of Social Sciences, dedicated to the memory and ideals of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, was established by the Government of Madhya Pradesh at his birth place, Mhow on 14th November, 1988, to provide facilities for specialized teaching courses, research, extension, sensitization and training in Social Sciences with a focus on the problems of weaker sections including scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, other backward classes, minorities, women and children.
