The Director General's Message :-

The Institute has been named after Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the Messiah of weaker sections and is located at his birth place - Mhow, the town which has now been renamed as Dr. Ambedkar Nagar. The main objectives of the Institute include conducting research studies on policies and programmes to improve quality of life  and enhance standard of living conditions of the weaker sections including the

Scheduled Castes; Scheduled Tribes; Other Backward Classes; women and children; and minorities, and to conduct training and extension programmes to sensitize the functionaries and agencies concerned with the welfare and development of backward classes.

My endeavour will be to bring the Institute at both national and international levels through higher studies, basic and action oriented research on social issues pertaining especially to the weaker sections, training students and functionaries as sensitized agents, high level scholars, decision-makers, administrators working for the welfare and development of society in general and weaker sections in particular.

The main purpose of launching the Institute's website is to disseminate the achievements of the Institute and also to bridge the communication gap between the Institute and the government and non-government organizations, scholars working in the field of development of weaker sections and also to make people aware about the various academic activities and achievements including research projects, dissertations and theses done at M.Phil./Ph.D. level, extension-works, seminars and workshops, training and sensitization programmes undertaken by the faculty and research scholars of the Institute. The Institute's website shall include online Institute's Research Journal, BANISS Students' Magazine; BANISS Newsletter and occasional research papers. The Institute's website shall also contain the information about forthcoming research, academic, extension and training programmes.

On the basis of information collected from various sources, Dr. D. K. Verma & Dr. A. Sohrot have compiled the content of the Institute's website. I hope, in near future, the Institute will have ample opportunities not only for disseminating the thoughts and philosophy of contemporary thinkers but also for conducting basic research for learning, interactions and intellectual discussions, and evolving a work-culture with full and firm commitments. I also assure to keep informing, from time to time, the government and non-government agencies, academics and the people at large about the activities being undertaken by the Institute.

Shri S.K. Das, I.P.S (Rtd.)
